Facebook Ads were the first step towards advertising on the social space. Twitter jumped on board during April 2010 but has not yet released the ad option to the public. News broke out that in November, the self-service option for running twitter ads were released to a handful of advertisers which mean that they are beginning to test with the aim to launch it publically soon.
“This is an important step in continuing to grow Twitter’s business,” said Twitter rep Matt Graves via email. “Our Promoted Products can help small and medium-sized businesses build their audience on Twitter and better engage with the people they want to reach. As with all of our advertising efforts, we’re starting small, testing carefully and making improvements on as we learn what works. We will slowly roll this capability out to more advertisers in the coming weeks and months.”
With this option available it won’t be long until we start to see some case studies on the effectiveness of these ads. Until then the rest of us can only wait in anticipation.
