Google continues its social domination plan with the addition of +1 buttons to its image search feature.
Previously On Google
For those who haven’t caught up on the latest, Google released its Google+ Pages feature for businesses earlier this week (We blogged about it here!). Google+ Pages allow businesses to establish an official presence on Google’s social network platform, peppering their Google+ Page with +1 buttons and badges for their website.
What’s A +1 Button?
Facebook users will be familiar with this concept, as a +1 button is Google’s version of a Facebook Like. Essentially, it is you saying “Hey, I like this website/video/picture/piece of content”. What Google is intending to do, is collate all these recommendations and use them to present a series of search results for each user that incorporates the recommendations of friends. Let’s imagine that I am using Google to find a local restaurant. In my search results, I’ll see a listing with a little notification that a friend of mine has “+1′d” the website of a particular restaurant. Wouldn’t I be more likely to enquire now that I know that a friend of mine has tried it and liked it?

The addition of +1 buttons to Google Image Search simply provides the search giant with more information about your interests in its effort to provide a more social search experience.
Try an Image Search and see if you can spot the button!
