Hot Trends is a new feature out of Google Labs that shows the top 100 topics that people are searching for in great numbers. The list is updated in almost real time so you can keep right on the pulse.
Google Zeitgeist is a list of popular searches that has been in the making for more than six years. This has highlighted the sorts of queries people type into the Google search box every day. Google Trends shows the popularity of search terms in relation to each other over time, and how different cities or regions may care (or not) about the trends.
Hot Trends is the latest feature to be added. Clicking on one of the hot topics takes you to a page of nifty info including related searches, blog results, news clippings and the top web results.
Over on Problogger they write;
This should be exciting bloggers on at least two fronts.
1. It’s another chance to be found once you’re in their Blog Search system.
2. It could be a useful tool for those writing blogs on current hot topics.
