Faceboook “Friendship Pages” to Make Snooping Easier

Tired of having to trawl multiple profiles checking who commented on whose status, and missing the good old “wall-to-wall” days to keep a track of your best friends to make sure they’re not leaving you out of things or talking about you? Well great news!

Facebook has just launched a new feature called “Friendship Pages” that will allow users to chronicle the interactions between specific friends on a dedicated page.

The rationale is that it is great to keep a track of, say, a couple that you are friends with to see how their love is blossoming. One would imagine that if it was blossoming they’d be on Facebook less often, but nonetheless you will now be able to live vicariously through others interactions.

They contain the public Wall posts and comments between two friends, photos in which both are tagged, Events they RSVP’d for together and more. You’ll be able to see a friendship page if you are friends with one of the people and have permission to view both people’s profiles.

This is an interesting tool that aims at allowing users to read back over a lengthy history and reflect on how relationships have changed over time (to a greater extent than simply watching for the “is now in a relationship” updates). As Facebook at present appears to be the social network that will endure, this type of tool promises to be the modern day version of flipping through dusty photo albums to reminisce.
